writer & comedian
Sophie boudreau
Hello! My name is Sophie. I’m a writer, comedian, and hypochondriac based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A native Michigander (yes, we really call ourselves Michiganders and for that I am deeply sorry), I moved to Los Angeles in 2018. After three years of contending with Southern California rent prices and the onset of a pandemic that made full-time remote work more feasible, I returned home to Michigan in 2021 to continue my freelance writing career. My work has appeared on BuzzFeed, Medium, and extensively on Only in Your State — more specifically, the Only In Detroit and Only In Michigan pages.
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 with a degree in film, television, and media. I spent the following year completing a Fulbright grant in Malaysia, where I taught English to secondary school students and was regularly coerced into consuming durian. In addition to performing stand-up comedy and building on several years of freelance writing, my time in Los Angeles allowed me to work with live studio audiences at CBS Television Studios and Television City.
In 2020, I was a top 25 finalist out of an estimated 2,000 applicants for the coveted NBC Late Night Writers Workshop.
I’m always on the hunt for new opportunities to write professionally, with interests ranging from mental health to satire.
Please thoroughly cyber-stalk me and don’t hesitate to reach out.
